About Resource: Dataset
DataSet Name: County Wildlife Sites in Somerset
Coverage: Around 1900 County Wildlife Sites for Somerset evaluated against detailed ecological criteria using data collated at SERC. Continually reviewed and updated.
Survey Methods: The system uses data derived from all available sources but includes routine in-house site survey (described elsewhere)
Purpose: To identify non-statutory sites of at least county importance for wildlife for planning related, advisory and various other conservation purposes.
Commissioned By: Somerset Environmental Records Centre
Potential: Considerable potential for use integrated with other datasets
Limits: Incomplete evaluation against species criteria through lack of comprehensive available data
