Local
Somerset Butterfly Group – focus on recording and monitoring, and produce a number of publications reflecting the distribution and abundance of butterflies in Somerset.
Somerset and Bristol Branch of Butterfly Conservation – members help with reserve management and maintenance, recording and monitoring, and also run events.
Somerset Invertebrates Group – focus on the recording and conservation of invertebrates not covered by other local recording groups, such as spiders, beetles, and hoverflies.
Somerset Moth Group – record and study the moths of the area and promote interest in these fascinating creatures.

Bees, Wasps and Ants Recording Society (BWARS) – national society dedicated to studying and recording bees, wasps & ants (aculeate Hymenoptera).
British Arachnological Society – promote the study of the Arachnida, especially spiders, pseudoscorpions and harvestmen.
British Bugs – an online identification guide to UK Hemiptera (true bugs), one of the major groups of insects found in the UK, comprising nearly 2000 species.
British Dragonfly Society – promote and encourage the study and conservation of dragonflies and their natural habitats, especially in the United Kingdom.
British Myriapod and Isopod Group (BMIG) – promote the study of myriapods (millipedes, centipedes, pauropods and symphylans) and isopods (woodlice and water-slaters).
British Plant Gall Society – encourage and co-ordinate the study of plant galls, with particular reference to the British Isles.
Butterfly Conservation – conservation charity dedicated to saving wild butterflies, moths, and their habitats throughout the UK.
Conchological Society of Great Britain and Ireland – one of the oldest existing societies devoted to the study of molluscs, from slugs and snails to cuttlefish and octopus.
Dipterist’s Forum – encourage all aspects of the study of ‘true flies’, including hoverflies, craneflies and gnats, promote recording and their conservation.
