SERC is often best placed to help organisations wanting to implement ecological projects in Somerset. SERC’s involvement can range from administrative to field work, management to advisory. Our local connections and knowledge allow us to short-cut what might other-wise be a daunting task with a significantly greater costs. SERC is experienced in applying for and managing grants on behalf of interest groups seeking to improve our biological or geological diversity.
SERC has been organising bat surveys for years, coordinating volunteers and training. Procuring venues, supplying equipment along with the health and safety advice required to ensure the smooth running of such events. After collection of the survey results the data can be analysed and reports written. In the examples below surveys were repeated for a number of years to establish both baselines and look for trends. Such data creates a foundation for comparisons of other similar events or for further study.
