SERC encourages recording of wildlife and would like to receive more records. It is possible to make useful records with no specialist knowledge.
A record is simply a species seen at a place by somebody on a given date. Example: Kingfisher; River Tone at Taunton by Debenhams; Harriet Smith; 15 May 2002.

SERC is interested in all records - please don't assume that we already know. However at present we are especially interested in receiving records for the top ten species shown in the graphic on the right. Many of these are Biodiversity Action Plan species.
In addition we are very interested to receive any records of the habitats shown in the graphic on the right. Each month we will run a feature on one of these so keep an eye on our site.
Experienced recorders may wish to obtain a much longer list of target species for recording - the Somerset Notable Species Dictionary.
