Species Recorder
Introduction
Species Recorder is a biological recording tool intended to make entering records onto a computer as quick, simple, and painless as possible. The orginal version was written for Sussex Biological Records Centre and has been modified by SERC for recording in Somerset.
It is specifically designed to produce Microsoft Excel files suitable for rapid import into Recorder 2002/6 or MapMate via its ‘Import Wizard’. Although not intended as a general purpose recording tool, Species Recorder does function as a simple database enabling you to store records in spreadsheet files for your own purposes.
Note: Microsoft Excel 97 or above is required to run Species Recorder.
Features
- Very easy to learn and use
- Creates standard Excel compatible spreadsheets
- Recorder 2002/6 import wizard compatible
- MapMate import compatible
- Record navigation – page back and forth between records
- Save and reopen – you can now reopen existing files and open those others have sent to you for editing or validation
This version of Species Recorder is designed primarily for recording in Somerset. However, you may find it useful for recording outside of the county.
